Berry Good Beer in Troy, New Hampshire

In July, we went up to Troy, NH, and went berry picking at Monadnock Berries. This month we wanted to talk all about Granite Roots Brewery, a local brewing company owned and operated by the same folks at Monadnock Berries. Also in Troy, this brewery sells their rotating seasonal beers year round and is worth a stop!

Granite Roots operates a small retail shop where you can purchase your beers to enjoy on site or take home in reusable bottles. The shop is the perfect size for a few people to sit and sip their samples or full glasses, enjoy complimentary pretzels and buy some merchandise to support the brewery further. Since we went on the NH Open Farms Day, they had locally made pies, jam and fresh blueberries all sourced from their farm. After a few samples to decide which beer to enjoy before we filled our growlers and headed out, I went with their Rootlet 12. This IPA is their 12th out of 12 in their IPA series(link to page on site) and was a perfect mild pale ale. I also couldn’t resist their summer Belgian called Witty Blues that had a blueberry aftertaste thanks to the berries they handpicked and added for flavor.

Just out the door of the retail shop, Granite Roots has a beer garden where customers can sit outside with their drinks. The entire area is decorated with unique and fun metal artwork sculptures and a small decorative fountain that create a perfect setting to relax with a beer. Off to the side you can see where they grow some of their ingredients, and a long building where visitors can peek in and see the brewers at work.

Paige was super knowledgable and fun to chat with while we visited!

If you don’t want to have a beer while you’re there, then have no fear! Granite Roots sells 32oz and 64oz of their beers on tap for those that want to take them home, along with 16oz single bottles if you only want a little bit. The best part about the larger bottles? You can bring them back with you to reuse, and save a few dollars off what you pick out next! Since they rotate a lot of their brews, this is a perfect way to save and also savor their beers year round.
