Downhill Skiing in the Monadnock Region

Updated January 6, 2022.

Skiing is a New Hampshire tradition that has an active presence in the Monadnock Region. We are nestled in a prime spot for reaching a variety of ski areas to enjoy some outdoor fun once the snow starts falling. We’re here to take you on a fun-filled winter excursion of some of the ones closest to us, giving you a great experience well worth a visit.

The closest downhill skiing area to the Jack Daniels Inn is Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride, only 15-20 minutes away. Located in Bennington NH, this mountain is a prime spot for all the skiers and shredders in the family. With a wide variety of trails of varying difficulties from green dot to balck diamond, there’s something for every level of experience with skis and snowboards. Crotched Mountain features well groomed trails, trainers and terrain parks and night skiing six nights a week.

A fully outfitted lodge greets visitors to the ski area with cubbies, lockers, a retail store for when you forget your gloves and a full array of rental equipment. Those interested in just putting their feet up while other members of their group hit the trails will be pleased to find a cozy spot upstairs in the Base Lodge. A cafeteria with its own pizzeria offers hot food and drinks, while the Onset Pub is ideal for grabbing a more adult drink.

Crotched Mountain also does another thing that’s sure to excite and entice – Midnight Madness! On select Friday and Saturday nights, ski the slopes until 3am, enjoy live music inside the Onset Pub, and warm up by the bonfires all night long. Crotched Mountain is one of the only ski areas on the east coast to offer late night skiing, and the experience itself is worth a try.

If you want to explore Southern New Hampshire’s alpine skiing even further, Pat Peak  Ski Area is only 40 minutes away and Mount Sunapee Resort can be reached in less than an hour.

So, where to start? Why, at the Jack Daniels Inn of course! Our central location makes us the perfect hub for exploring all of SouthWest New Hampshire’s downhill skiing. We are so pleased to offer several Ski Packages at the inn that give guests some amazing deals on tickets while also providing a warm and welcoming room when it’s time to rest. Downtown Peterborough offers amazing options for lunch and dinner as well, both casual and fine dining for you to enjoy before – or after – you hit the trails.
